Been Trampled?

This week I am going to be posting here and there about a great Minnesota based blue grass band, Trampled by Turtles. The reason being is that I will be going to their show this coming weekend and I can hardly contain my excitement, and so I might as well share it with all of you!

For today, I will start by posting a couple videos of their work. Enjoy!

This first one is called Wait so Long. It is almost without a doubt the group’s most popular song. If there is any chance you’ve heard any music by his band, it likely you would have heard this song.

This next one is called Ceiling Slide. I included this song to show the over all quality of musicianship that these guys posses. There are really no words to explain. You just have to watch.

As can be seen from this video, they are crazy good at what they do. I purposely included videos in which you can actually watch the music be created, because, actually watching them destroy these songs on their instruments definitely increases the level of awe of what you are experiencing musically.

You Can Kill the Dreamer, but you Can’t Kill the Dream

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

This past Friday I watched Lee Daniels’ “The Butler”. This movie is based on a true story of the life of a man working as a butler in the white house from the time of Eisenhower on through to Reagan (Almost needless to say a very radical time period in our nations history) I found it to be an incredible movie. I highly recommend watching it this week to help understand, and remember why our country takes a day to honor Dr. King and all peaceful protesters of that time. As the movie illustrates, the butler might not have gone out and protested in those critical times, but he did his part by being a hard worker just an all around good guy. This in itself helped to breakdown racial stereotypes, and therefore destroy a premeditated hate.
